BIG NEWS AT YOGA BRIDGE! We're 11 years old! Since 2011 Yoga Bridge has provided a unique model of yoga asanas, breathing techniques, and guided relaxation as a means of supporting those in the healing process of a cancer diagnosis. Online yoga classes for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers are small and allow each student to receive attention. These classes are taught by registered yoga teachers, trained specifically by Yoga Bridge to teach yoga for cancer. Co-founders Susan Reeves and Pamela Ryan met at a local yoga studio in 2007, where they were teachers. They shared a mutual appreciation and passion for yoga as a coping strategy as well as physical exercise. They were approached to offer yoga to those who had been diagnosed with cancer and saw that there was a need for a special type of yoga. With help from doctors and nurses at Texas Oncology, plus funding from Foundation56 and retired Dallas Cowboy Bradie James, Susan and Pamela were able to start the first yoga for cancer program in 2011 at Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton, Texas. From there, Yoga Bridge was born. "We never dreamed we'd meet so many precious friends on the day we founded Yoga Bridge in a Starbuck's down the street. Now we're celebrating 11 years of wonderful memories and hope for the future." ~Susan Contact us at susiereeves@hotmail.com For info on Yoga for Cancer Teacher Training, contact susiereeves@hotmail.com |
