Blogpost about Yoga Bridge from a volunteer Yoga Bridge is a nonprofit that offers yoga classes to people who are still recovering from cancer, but it’s more than just that. It’s a community built on the idea that healing isn’t only physical, but emotional too. When I read about them, something in my mind clicked. I may not be a doctor, but I have a passion to help others, so I reached out, offering to help with their social media.
I help by editing photos and videos from their yoga sessions, creating posts pictures for their Instagram and website. Every time I work on any post picture/video, I think about who might be seeing it, like someone recently diagnosed or someone who had been through treatment, all of which who are searching for peace.
Yoga Bridge has taught me that healing doesn’t always look like a scientific cure, but instead a deep breath or even a short video that shows someone else doing the same thing.
Volunteering here has helped me find a sense of calmness I didn’t know I needed. It had helped me feel more useful and hopeful in a way I haven’t felt before, like I’m adding kindness to a world that really needs it little by little.
If you’re someone who wants to help but isn’t sure where to start, I’d say this, begin with what you love. Whether it’s designing, writing, or even just listening, there’s a place for your voice to be heard. ~Anishka Goyal
